In a major development, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman has stepped down from his position, just hours after the company’s board of directors sacked CEO Sam Altman. OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman was fired after a review found he was not honest in his communication with the board. The board no longer believes he can lead OpenAI effectively.

OpenAI’s president Greg Brockman resigned just hours after Altman was fired. This news surprised many people in the tech industry. Brockman expressed shock and sadness in a statement posted on the microblogging platform X.

“Sam and I are shocked and saddened by what the board did today. Let us first say thank you to all the incredible people who we have worked with at OpenAI, our customers, our investors, and all of those who have been reaching out. We too are still trying to figure out exactly what happened,” he wrote,

“The outpouring of support has been really nice; thank you, but please don’t spend any time being concerned. We will be fine. Greater things coming soon,” he added.

The statement was shared in response to Altman’s post on his ouster. “I loved my time at OpenAI. it was transformative for me personally, and hopefully the world a little bit. most of all I loved working with such talented people,” Altman wrote on X.

In a latest post on X, Altman who was ousted as the board “no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI,” said it has been a weird experience for him in many ways.

“Today was a weird experience in many ways. but one unexpected one is that it has been sorta like reading your own eulogy while you’re still alive. the outpouring of love is awesome,” he posted.

“One takeaway: go tell your friends how great you think they are,” he added. In the next X post, he said that “If I start going off, the OpenAI board should go after me for the full value of my shares”.
