Darsheel Safary was just 10 years old when Taare Zameen Par became a blockbuster.

Darsheel Safary became a household name after he starred in Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par. He was recently seen in Hukus Bukus.

Darsheel Safary recently made his comeback on screen with a sports drama titled Hukus Bukus. However, he is still remembered as the Taare Zameen Par’s Ishaan. The film, which was released in 2007, also starred Aamir Khan and is widely loved by all even today. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Darsheel mentioned that with Hukus Bukus, the idea was not to break away from the image of Ishaan.

“I do not look into these aspects. I think that’s a part of the process. It is a natural thing. I always believe that you keep on doing your work and you keep on following your basics which is working hard and automatically the audiences will like you. Image and all will happen simultaneously. As long as nothing bad is happening, I will continue doing so,” he told us.

“I was never thinking about breaking away from any image. Definitely, when you watch any of my upcoming projects, you tend to remember what I was when I was younger. I am sure people will be surprised to see me on screen with what I have to offer this time. Because there’s a lot of homework that I’ve tried to do. There’s a lot of studying that I’ve tried to do,” the 26-year-old actor added.

Darsheel was just 10 years old when Taare Zameen Par became a blockbuster. Asked if his entire childhood was also categorised by the same movie following its release, the young actor explained, “I was too young to think of that. Till today, in most of the interviews I do, I have questions about Taare Zameen Par. It is unfair for me to judge why people are still revolving around that. I have realised that it’s the kind of project that I’ve done that people remember, that people are related to. It’s such a film that even stands up till today. It’s a film that people have liked so much that it’s still fresh in their minds.”

Darsheel went on to say that he feels inspired when people talk about his role in Taare Zameen Par even today. “It automatically starts inspiring me that I want to do similar projects and associate with similar projects. Hukus Bukus felt like the right direction for me because I saw the purity of the character that I was playing, Arjun. And also the fact that everybody has negative situations in their life. Everyone has ups and downs in their life. It’s what you choose to do in them,” he said.

Even though it’s been 16 years since Taare Zameen Par was released, Darsheel is still in touch with his co-star Aamir Khan. “In fact, recently we had spoken and extended my wishes for his last film. And we wished him on his birthday also. And there’s always a prompt reply. It’s always nice,” he shared.

Will Darsheel be reuniting with Aamir in the latter’s upcoming movie Sitaare Zameen Par? “I don’t know. I’ve been getting this question so much. But I don’t think we can talk about that now. I think that’s a conversation for another time. I can promise you that’s a surprise,” he told us.
