Delhi High Court to hear Sushant Singh Rajput's father plea against Nyay: The Justice, a film based on Sushant Singh Rajput's life.

Delhi High Court will hear the plea of Sushant Singh Rajput's father against the film 'Nyay: The Justice' on February 12.

In July this year, the Delhi High Delhi High Court To Hear Plea Of Sushant Singh Rajput’s Father KK Singh Against ‘Nyay: The Justice’Court refused to issue a stay order against streaming of film Nyay: The Justice, a project adapted from Sushant Singh Rajput’s life on an OTT platform. Sushant Singh Rajput’s father had filed a plea seeking interlocutory injunction in his case against the filmmakers. However, the court clarified that a possible ban cannot take place since it was released in 2021 and thousands of people might have already watched it. Now in a fresh development, Delhi High Court will hear the plea of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father next year.

Going by the report shared by the news agency IANS, Justices Yashwant Varma and Ravinder Dudeja that comprise a division bench has granted time to all the concerned parties to file their replies on this matter. The counsel of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father reportedly informed the court that four representatives are being represented by them. The pleas was filed in response to the order that was passed in July, which refused to injunct the streaming of the film. The court will hear the plea on February 12.

Dismissing the plea in the court of law, Justice C Hari Shankar had stated back in July, “To fasten a legal right, on something as fleeting as a celebrity, appears to be an oxymoron. Law cannot allow itself to be a vehicle to promote celebrity culture. It does not appear permissible, in our constitutional scheme which guarantees equality to individuals and in which equality is a cherished preambular goal, to countenance an extra bundle of rights which would be available for enjoyment only to celebrities.”

The court had also emphasized that the right to publicity, privacy and personality vested in Sushant Singh Rajput cannot be exercised since the person has passed away, “The said rights, therefore, did not survive for espousal by the plaintiff,” the court stated.

Nyay The Justice is written and directed by Dilip Gulati, produced by Sarla A. Saraogi and Rahul Sharma. The film stars Zuber Khan and Shreya Shukla in lead roles, Aman Verma as ED chief, Asrani as Mahinder Singh’s Father, Shakti Kapoor as NCB Chief, Kiran Kumar as Advocate of Mahinder’s father, Anant Jog as Mumbai Police Commissioner, Anwar Fatehan as Bihar Police Commissioner, Sudha Chandran as CBI chief and other actors in pivotal roles.
