This 29th September episode of WWE SmackDown featured a special appearance of John Cena, held at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. With a determination to fight The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa in the main event of Fastlane, Cena’s appearance wrapped up this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown. There was not much certainty on who would line-up with Cena for the Fastlane battle. It was LA Knight who ultimately emerged as Cena’s tag-team partner. LA Knight signed the contract paper and handed it back to Cena to ensure his participation.
The United States Championship was also on the line as Rey Mysterio defended the title against Santos Escobar on the latest episode of SmackDown. In the women’s segment, Charlotte Flair and Bayley faced each other yesterday. This week’s episode of SmackDown kicked off with a fight between Karl Anderson and Jimmy Uso.
Karl Anderson vs Jimmy Uso
The opening promo, featuring Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa, developed the first fight of the night. Jimmy and The OC’s Karl Anderson were involved in the opening encounter of the night. The fight turned out to be quite one-sided with Anderson proving why he should be focusing on tag-team battles. Jimmy came up with the Uso Splash to pick up a convincing victory.
Cameron Grimes vs Austin Theory
Following the ‘Grayson Waller Effect,’ Austin Theory appeared to fight Cameron Grimes with Waller at the ringside. The battle highlighted the former United States Champion’s terrific fighting prowess. Theory did not have much trouble in emerging victorious in his clash with Grimes. Theory delivered A-Town Down to earn his win.
Rey Mysterio vs Santos Escobar
The United States Championship was on the line yesterday as Santos Escobar attempted to defeat Rey Mysterio in order to clinch the title. But Escobar’s endeavour went in vain as Mysterio emerged triumphant to retain the title. The title decider turned out to be an enthralling clash which did well to impress the fans. Escobar attempted to go for The Phantom Driver which saw Mysterio counter with the inside cradle to score a win to defend the title successfully.
Charlotte Flair vs Bayley
Charlotte Flair and Bayley were involved in a competitive fight in the SmackDown women’s division last night. This was another battle which did well to enthrall the spectators. Flair caught her opponent with a spear to register a victory.
