Aasif’s debut film failed miserably.

Aasif faced tough competition as a lead actor due to his contemporaries, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Actor Aasif Sheikh, known for his character in the TV sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, has seen a lot of ups and downs in his career. He made his first appearance in India’s first daily soap, Hum Log in 1984, where he essayed the role of Prince Ajay Singh. After the success of the TV Show, the actor decided to try his luck in films, but his attempts were futile. He then continued to struggle and even auditioned for TV serials, but had no luck there as well. At that point, Asif ran out of patience and money; he decided to leave Mumbai and go back to his hometown, Delhi. That’s when he was offered the lead in the romantic drama Rama O Rama (1988).

Aasif’s debut film failed miserably but he managed to get roles in films thereafter including Qayamat Ki Raat, Muqaddar Ka Badshah, Pyaar Ka Saudagar and Yaara Dildaara. These films couldn’t make a huge impact on the audience.

As a lead, Aasif faced tough competition with his contemporaries, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Due to his poor box office record, the actor was having trouble getting films and he slowly shifted to supporting roles and even played the antagonist roles in films like Karan Arjun and Haseena Mann Jayegi.

Aasif Sheikh got a breakthrough in his career with the TV sitcom Yes Boss in 1999. Aasif shifted his career from films to small screens and got several offers ever since. In 2015, he starred in one of the most successful ongoing TV shows, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Pai Hai. He played the role of Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the show.

Notably, in 2021, Aasif Sheikh was honoured with the certificate from the World Book of Records, London for crossing 300 characters in a comedy show.

Aasif also was seen in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ka Jaan recently.
