WhatsApp explains that an IP address is needed to provide fast data transfer and higher call quality. But this exposes your IP address for the device to identify and deliver the data to the right IP. And through these details, it is easy to determine a user’s geographical location and even their internet provider. “With this feature enabled, all your calls will be relayed through WhatsApp’s servers, ensuring that other parties in the call cannot see your IP address and subsequently deduce your general geographical location," WhatsApp says in this post.WhatsApp is not activating the feature by default and giving users the choice if they want to use it for a particular call. Having said that, WhatsApp is clearly telling people that if you enable the feature, the call quality on the messaging app will reduce.
