India Vs Australia Final: Desi cricket fans have assembled in large numbers praying for country's third World Cup trophy.

The day is here. India will take on Australia in the final of ICC World Cup 2023 on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The atmosphere here in India is a cocktail of emotions. One lot is confident, for dominant India have won all their matches in the ongoing World Cup on their home soil and Rohit Sharma’s Men are merely one step away from lifting the shining trophy. Another section of fans is simply anxious, for they have experienced the horrors and heartbreak of 2003 when Australia thrashed India.

“It’s either gonna be the best day of my life or i’m gonna be heartbroken for a long time,” wrote a cricket fan on microblogging site ‘X’.

As fans rush outside the venue in Ahmedabad to grab seats for the best view of the action, millions of prayers have already begun in all corners of India.

Many other desi fans found solace in memes, praying for the trophy to come home for the third time. As for Australia, the five-time champions look forward to record half a dozen victories in ODI World Cups.

India great Sachin Tendulkar is optimistic that the prayers of the billion-plus citizens shall be answered today.

Meanwhile, dignitaries including India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will be watching the World Cup final match at the renowned stadium with a seating capacity of 132,000 spectators.
