As hotel prices are skyrocketing in Ahmedabad due to the much awaited World Cup final, a furniture and mattress brand has come up with a bizarre promotional stunt. The Wakefit store in Ahmedabad will open its doors to people who are in Ahmedabad for the India vs Australia ICC ODI World Cup Final on November 19. Meaning, people who have been unable to book a room in Ahmedabad, can stay at the Wakefit store.
Wakefit co-founder Chaitanya Ramalingegowda took to ‘X’ and announced that World Cup final attendees can stay one night for free at their Ahmedabad store. “No hotel rooms in Ahmedabad after you see India win? No problem! Come over to Wakefit – our doors will remain open,” he wrote.

In order to avail the free stay, people can visit the Wakefit store in Sarkhej-Gandhinagar. All they need to do is show their match ticket. Those interested can book their spots in advance by sending an email on IndiaJeetega@wakefit.co.

Meanwhile, India last reached at this stage in the World Cup 12 years back when they became the champions. It took them three more attempts to clear the semi-final hurdle again. The Pat Cummins-led side found themselves bottom of the pile with two defeats at the start but Australia since have recovered and stitched together a run of eight wins in a row to qualify for the final.
